Miriam Cabessa is an internationally renowned American-Israeli painter and the recipient of the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Israeli Ministry of Culture. Born in Casablanca, Morocco, she grew up in Israel and now divides her time between Tel Aviv and New York.
Cabessa introduced a new visual language to the world of painting. Her abstract-concrete universe offers a unique feminine response to the tradition of action painting. Her works resonate with the movement from which they emerge, creating an intelligent and magnetic three-dimensional magic.
Since representing Israel at the Venice Biennale in 1997, Cabessa has received international acclaim. She has exhibited in hundreds of solo and group shows in Israel, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Washington, Milan, Zurich, Paris, London, and more. Her paintings are held in major museums and private collections across Israel, Europe, and the United States.
